About Us
The Asaga (Ohafia) Development Union (ADU) is a non-partisan, non-profit umbrella body established as the principal institution for the coordinated development, cultural preservation, and civic engagement of the Asaga-Ohafia community. Headquartered in Asaga-Ohafia, with functional women and youth wings and active branches across Nigeria and the diaspora, the Union serves as a dynamic platform for mobilizing human and material resources to transform our homeland.
ADU is structured to promote grassroots inclusion, uphold democratic ideals, and institutionalize a collaborative relationship between contemporary governance frameworks and our revered traditional institutions.
From town planning and healthcare to education, security, and youth empowerment, the Union spearheads programmes that reflect the collective priorities of our people.
We are firmly committed to promoting social justice, preserving indigenous values, and fostering a resilient and forward-looking society anchored in peace, equity, and mutual respect.
Through a culture of integrity, transparency, and inclusive leadership, ADU stands as a beacon of responsible service and accountability—drawing strength from the unity of our people and the wisdom of our elders.
The Union is currently under the leadership of Chief Okpa Ibekwem Okpa, who assumed office as President General (PG) in April 2022, following his successful election at the Union’s Annual Delegates Meeting held in Aba, Abia State.
